Dublin High School PFSO Update: 3-4-2011

Below are the latest updates from the Dublin High School PFSO. The previous update is available here.

  • More information about the upcoming Wow! That’s Engineering! Workshop for High School Girls is available here.
  • More information on the Grease Sing-along to support the Class of 2012 is available here. Buy your tickets now!
  • The registration form and information for the Cheer Clinic on Sat. 3/19 is available here.  Registration is still taking place, just get your form in soon!
  • In our acknowledgements of wrestlers who made it to NCS, I failed to congratulate the Lady Gaels who went as well.  Congratulations to Rachael Chinn who placed second at NCS and was set to go to State but was injured in her final match at NCS. What a heart breaker! We also need to congratulate Linda Tran who placed 5th at NCS.
  • Congratulations to Ryan McRee who has recently been presented with his Eagle Scout Award, Troop 549 and to Charlette Tanner who received her Girl Scout Gold Award (more on Charlette Tanner’s Girl Scout experience is available here). Ryan’s Dublin Patch article on becoming an Eagle Scout is available here. There was also a write-up in Dublin Patch about Rachel Reed’s Girl Scout Gold Award project (the Dublin High Battle of the Bands event) – read more here.
  • Reminder that our next collaboration day is on Wed. 3/9.  This means an early release time of 1:47p.m. The new Dublin High bell schedule that recently went into place is available here.
  • At the last PFSO meeting, the group voted to give $800 to the History Department to purchase a class set of books plus a DVD collection. These items will be used throughout the department in various History classes.  $1300 was also voted on to give to the Journalism Class in support of the Dublin Shield newspaper written by students for the student body at DHS. The Dublin Shield has seen its circulation grow from 200 copies to 1,000 copies per student body request.  This demand has added to the expense of the paper.  If you personally would like to help support the Shield, you may do so by going to (keep in mind, the Go Fund Me company keeps 5%) or you can send a check directly to:
    • Dublin High School
      c/o The Dublin Shield Newspaper
8151 Village Parkway, Dublin CA 94568
(Checks made out to Dublin High School and put Journalism in the Memo section).
  • Tickets for the Sadie Hawkins dance will go on sale starting Monday, March 14th in Student Activities.  Tickets will be $5 with ASB and $10 without. The Sadie Hawkins Dance will take place on Friday, March 18th in the cafeteria from 7:45p.m.-10:45p.m. This years theme is “Dynamic Duo”. This theme is definitely open to interpretation. Some are going as famous couples, some are going as things like Superman/Superwoman, Batman/Robin, Salt/Pepper, some are going as opposites, etc.
  • The Health Clerk at DHS has put in a request for donations of facial tissue for the health office.  Christi Slofkosky is low on tissue as she have been sharing it with other staff members in need – library, counseling, secretarial staff & teachers.  If you are able to donate a box or two of tissue during this cold/flu/allergy season, please drop them off in the Administration Building. Thanks in advance for your support
  • Attention Seniors/Parents.  The PFSO announces the 2011 Scholarship Award.  In keeping with our dedication to the ongoing education of Dublin High School students, the PFSO this year will recognize up to six individuals.  Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors based on involvement in extracurricular activities, service to school and community, and an application which includes a creative essay.  The awards will be $500 each.   Applications for the PFSO Scholarship Award 2011 are now available in the Counseling Office.  The deadline for Applications is April 15, 2011.
