Dublin High School PFSO Update: 2-15-2011

Below is the latest Dublin High School PFSO update for the week of 2-15-2011:

  • Tomorrow (Wed.) is the next stress class during lunch in the career center.  This one is entitled, “Beating Test Anxiety”.  Please encourage your child to attend if you think they suffer from test anxiety. This is a great opportunity for students to get focused help.
  • Tomorrow night (Wednesday) is Honors/AP Night at 6:30 p.m. in the Little Theater.  All students interested in taking an Advanced, Honors or AP course are encouraged to attend with parents/guardians.
  • Tomorrow night is also the first round of NCS playoffs for both Boys and Girls Soccer.  Congratulations to both programs.  If you are interested in supporting the teams, the boys are playing at DHS at 7p.m. while the girls will be at Alhambra in Martinez at the same time.  Go Gaels!
  • Dublin Unified is using a new career assessment/college search software called Kuder Navigation(  This internet based program allows your student to establish an account and keep a portfolio of information they find on colleges and careers.
    • All freshmen have been given the chance to sign up through their PE classes.  Seniors who were in CHEE 1st semester have also signed up and seniors this semester in CHEE will sign up 2nd semester.  Sophomores and Juniors will have a chance this school year through a class (TBD) to have one period with the Career Educational Specialist, Amanda Carlson, to review what the website can do for them. Once your account is established and your students has started to use it, they will have this account into college and adult life.

  • Last day to buy a ticket for the Class of 2014 Spa-Tacular event is this Friday, 2/18. The Spa-Tacular night on Friday 2/25 from 4-7p.m. at Cachet Salon.  Enjoy a variety of treatments plus wine and appetizers all for $20.  Space is limited, please email  Remember you don’t have to be a freshman parent to join in the pampering!
  • “Dollars for Scholars” Bowl-a-Rama- Dublin Partners In Education is now recruiting teams to bowl at the annual Bowl-a-Rama event. This family fun event raises money to support program in the Dublin public schools. All families are invited to join in the fun, kids and grandparents are welcome. Event Details: Sunday, March 6th, fun starts at 1:00 till 4.  Lots of laughs and prizes. Registration forms are available at all public school offices and at Earl Anthony’s Dublin Bowling Center. Contact Kelly Knabe at 828-255 ex 5423 or e-mail for more info
  • We don’t have school on Monday.  YES!!  And the kids actually get one more treat….Friday is a “No Homework Day” to reward them for doing so well on their testing.  What a great, creative, non-caloric way to reward our kids.
  • When we come back to school on Tuesday 2/22 we will be starting the new bell schedule.  School will have the same start time however, the end of the day will be at 2:45p.m.  We will also have our first collaboration day on Wed. 2/23.  This means that the kid will get out at 1:47p.m. on that day.  I am going to do my best to remind everyone when the next collaborative day is coming as it approaches.  We won’t have another one until March.
