Dublin High School PFSO Update: 3-21-2011

Prior Dublin High School PFSO updates are available here.

  • Attached please find registration forms for the DHS Athletic Booster Golf Tournament and Cinco de Mayo Dinner on Friday May 6th.
  • Attached please find a flier about a Microsoft Office Suite Class being offered through Adult Education.
  • The Tassajara Prep charter high school application, which was denied by both Alameda County and the Dublin Unified School District, has been appealed to the State Board of Education. District staf will be heading to Sacramento over spring break to appear before an Advisory Committee, which will make a recommendation to the full State Board. There is a community-generated petition currently circulating in Dublin that expresses support for the District and County’s previous decisions TO DENY the Tassajara Prep application. We are aiming to collect 1,000 signatures to send with District staff to Sacramento in April. Please consider signing our petition. Various community members have “checked out” petitions to gather signatures. Those who sign must be 18 or older and please sign only once. The PFSO has part of the petition available to sign in the Administration office at school.  It will be on the table as you first walk into the building.  For other places you can go to sign the petition, please contact Michelle McDonald at macsmith413@yahoo.com.  You can also contact Michelle If you are interested in gathering signatures and she can arrange to get you a copy of the petition. Thanks in advance for your support in the effort to protect the resources of Dublin High School!
  • There will be a Town Hall meeting on Wed. March 23 in the Dublin High library at 6:30 p.m. in which district staff will discuss the process as it pertains to the Tassajara Prep appeal to the state. If you are interested in learning more about this process, please plan to attend. Community members will have petitions available for signature at the meeting as well.
  • Academic Awards night is coming up next Wed. March 30th at 6:30p.m in the cafeteria. The Academic Awards program is funded solely through the dine-out fundraisers, DVD sales, and donations.  It’s estimated that the expenses for this year alone total approximately $1,850.  With only $330 raised so far this year we are hoping that the families who benefit from these awards will consider making a $5 donation on the night of Academic Awards to help keep this important program in place.
  • The Spring Concert will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 7p.m. in the Little Theatre.  The Irish Guard was accepted to attend the New York International Music Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2012.  Donations will be accepted at the Spring Concert to start raising money for this prestigious trip.
  • The Spring Fashion Show will take place on Thursday, March 31st at 7:30 in the Little Theatre. Tickets are $3 with ASB and $5 without.
  • On Saturday, March 26th the Class of 2012 is showing the John Travolta / Olivia Newton-John classic, “Grease,” in the Little Theater at 7:00 p.m.  This is the SING-ALONG version, so you can all get up and sing and dance to those great show tunes!  If you come in ’50s-style clothing, you will even get a special “prize.”  Tickets are $10 for adults; $7.00 for students.  All proceeds will benefit the junior class’ “safe and sober” Grad Night fund.  To order tickets, please email Shari Jackman at 2oldblues@sbcglobal.net she’ll set aside a ticket for you.
  • Senior parents- please remember that Senior Banquet tickets are only on sale until 3/31. If you need more info, email: dublinhighpfso@dublinhighpfso.com.
  • Attention Seniors/Parents.  The PFSO announces the 2011 Scholarship Award.  In keeping with our dedication to the ongoing education of Dublin High School students, the PFSO this year will recognize up to six individuals.  Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors based on involvement in extracurricular activities, service to school and community, and an application which includes a creative essay.  The awards will be $500 each.   Applications for the PFSO Scholarship Award 2011 are now available in the Counseling Office.  The deadline for Applications is April 15, 2011.
