PFSO Dollars at Workd
At the last PFSO meeting the group approved the purchase of new books for the History Department to use in their World War II studies. Approval was also given for a new software program that would help detect plagiarism in various subjects. Financial assistance was also given to the Dublin Shield journalism class to finish out the year and also start up money for a program so that they can go digital for the future, do more newspapers on a weekly basis that way and cut down the classes’ costs. The PFSO has distributed approximately $10,000 this year so far in campus support to a variety of departments. It is because of your generous support. Thank you!

The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) emphasizes high standards of scholarship and community service for California high school students. Founded in 1921, the California Scholarship Federation is the oldest scholarship institution in the state of California.
CSF Membership is based on scholarship and is gained after qualifying grades are earned each semester. In order to become a member, the student must submit an application each semester the student is eligible. A point system specified in the CSF State By-Laws establishes the membership requirements. To secure eligibility for CSF membership, a student must earn sufficient points from pre-approved course lists. The majority of the required membership points must come from University of California accepted course work.

10th-GRADERS GET READY FOR EXIT EXAM
Our school will administer the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) to all 10th-graders on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 12 and 13, 2013, at the school site during regular school hours in a large group setting.
It is essential that your student is here both days. Please speak to your student about the importance of passing this exam. Remind him/her to take all the time necessary to complete the exam. Encourage your student to get a good night’s sleep before and to eat a nutritious breakfast. The goal is to have all students pass on the first attempt. All students must pass both California High School Exit exam tests in order to receive a diploma.
If students do not pass the ELA portion, they will automatically be enrolled next year in the CAHSEE prep class. This will be one of their electives.
If students do not pass the Math portion, they will start after-school tutorial in the fall.
For students who do not pass a section of the test, they must continue to take it until they pass. Juniors have two opportunities to take the test while seniors have five opportunities. If students do not pass by the senior year, they will not walk in graduation.
