News from the Counseling Department
Just a reminder that applications for the Alameda County District Attorney’s Academy are due on November 4th. This is a six-month learning and paid work experience for high school students ages 16-18. There will be seminars covering a wide variety of topics in the fields of criminal justice, social justice, law, and the courts. When the school year is over, students are placed in a summer internship related to their interest. For more information and the application, see http://www.alcoda.org.
Seniors- are you unsure about what you should major in during college? We will be giving the “College Major Scorecard” after school on November 5th in the Career Center. This paper inventory matches your likes and dislikes to over 49 college majors, and it only takes 20 minutes to complete!
Signups going on now for ASVAB aptitude test
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, the most widely used multiple aptitude test battery in the world, assesses a student’s ability to learn new skills and is a predictor of success in training and education programs.
The ASVAB Career Exploration Program offers more than just a test. It includes an interest-inventory and other activities and resources designed to help students explore the world of work and gain confidence in making career decisions.
Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors can sign up in the Career Center for the ASVAB given on November 13th during 1st-3rd periods. This is a great career/interest inventory for everyone, but is required for any students wanting to enlist in any branch of the military in the future. Scores are not released to the military unless the student specifically requests it. There will be an interpretation of the ASVAB results in December.
Ongoing Fundraiser
Regal movie tickets will be on sale every Friday directly in front of Student Activities at lunch. Ticket prices are $8 per ticket for non-pass-restricted movies. Parents who want to buy tickets in bulk can contact Cyber Stacey at dublinhighpfso@dublinhighpfso.com. Movie ticket sales benefit the Class of 2014.
E-Scrip Renewal
Please remember to visit http://www.escrip.com/ and renew your account to benefit Dublin High PFSO. Each year your Escrip account must be renewed by November 1st in order for the school to receive monies through your Safeway purchases.
