Dublin High School Music Program Hits High Note at Spring Concert
Dublin High School’s Music Program was on display Monday night with an impressive array of jazz, choir and band performances. Parents, students and members of the Dublin community filled Dublin High School’s Little Theater for an evening of music.
The Spring Concert kicked into high gear with the Jazz Band, including the Benny Golson classic “I Remember Clifford”. Dublin High’s Jazz Band seniors each had a chance to showcase their solo talent during the 5-song set. Dublin High School’s Choir followed with 5 songs, including the intricate Greg Gilpin composition “Lightning” which required 22 singers to interleave percussive melodies with perfect timing. The evening closed with Dublin High School’s Concert Band and the frenetic “Abram’s Pursuit” by David Holsinger that had the audience on its feet for a standing ovation.
Under the leadership of Paul D. Everts (Director of Dublin High School’s Music Program), Dublin High has had an award winning year. Dublin High’s Music Program includes the Concert Band, Marching Band, Color Guard, Jazz Band, Choir and Winter Percussion. Mr. Everts, along with Dublin High School Lead Science Teacher Kim Baumann, were recently named Dublin Unified School District’s Teachers of the Year for 2010.
Dublin High’s Music Program will be on display in the coming months. Mark the following dates in your calendar:

The concert band was also invited to and participated in the 2010 Chabot Wind Band Festival. Dublin High School’s Concert Band also received a Silver Rating from the 2010 Heritage Music Festival held in Anaheim, California.
Dublin High School’s Jazz Band is one of the most active groups on campus – in high demand for events like ground breakings for new Dublin High buildings, back-to-school night, 8th grade night for incoming middle school students as well as sponsoring a benefit concert for the American Cancer Association and ALS Association. The Jazz Band has also participated in the Amador Valley High School Jazz Festival, CMEA Jass Festival and Folsom Jazz Festival receiving the second highest honor at each event.
Dublin High School’s Winter Guard had the singular honor of being the only Tri-Valley high school to win the 2010 Northern California Band Association Championship in their division (Novice B).
Dublin High School’s Winter Percussion has placed in every competition, including three 1st place, two 3rd place and one 4th place, including a 2nd place finish at the 2010 Northern California Band Association Championship, only 1.2 points out of 1st place.
Like many activities at Dublin High School that include significant participation outside of school hours, parents play a key supporting role. The Dublin High School Band Boosters is a non-profit parent-run organization that provides logistics, funding and standing applause support for the Dublin High School music program.

Dear Mr. Everts,
I represent Peace Lutheran Church in Danville. We are having a jazz concert on April 2 and it will be presented by E. W. Wainwright. The concert will include excellent music as well as the social evolution of jazz. May I send you a flyer?
