The popular Dublin Farmers’ Market begins its second season on Thursday May 3, 2012 and will run every Thursday, from 4pm to 8pm, at Emerald Glen Park.
The following information was provided by the City of Dublin:
DUBLIN, Calif., April 17, 2012 – After a successful first season, the Dublin Farmers’ Market will be open again for business on Thursday, May 3, at Emerald Glen Park. The Market will run each Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., through September 27. This season, the Market will be held near the corner of Tassajara Road and Central Parkway, close to the playground area at Emerald Glen Park.
The City will partner once again with the Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association (PCFMA) to operate the Market. In addition to offering fresh, California-grown produce, the Dublin Farmers’ Market will also feature weekly special events, such as a concert series, wine tastings, cook-offs, local entertainment, and children’s games and activities.
Weekly themes this year include:
“First Thursdays” (First Week of the Month): The “First Thursday” events will, once again, include a monthly concert in the park, in addition to wine and beer tastings from local vintners and breweries. The concert series this year includes:
- May 3: Jukebox Heroes – a cover band of popular songs
- June 7: Tempest – Celtic rock
- July 5: James Robinson – an acoustic guitarist of world music
- August 2: Contino – Cajun, zydeco, and blues
- September 6: Diablo Road – bold, energetic Country and popular music
“Dublin Cooks” (Second Week of the Month): This night will feature cooking demonstrations, taste tests, and, on May 10, a lively “Mayors’ Cook-Off,” featuring mayors from all over Alameda County, including Dublin’s own Mayor Sbranti. Residents and service organizations will also be able to participate in a monthly cook-off, where they can show off their talents in the cooking of a variety of foods, such as ribs and chili.
“Community Night” (Third and Fifth Week of the Month): This night will again provide local groups with an opportunity to showcase their talents, and offer up information about their organization. The Market will also feature entertainment from local musical, theatrical, and dance groups.
“Family Night” (Fourth Week of the Month): Designed to give families an opportunity to spend more time together, this night will feature games and activities for the kids, including face painting, Checkers the Clown, crafts, and a host of fun and interesting shows and exhibits. The Valley Children’s Mobile Museum will also be open each week, offering fun activities in addition to their “Traveling Missions” exhibit.
