Wells Middle School PFC Update 5-3-2011

Wells Middle School’s PFC update for the week of 5-3-2011. Prior Wells Middle School PFC updates available here.

Muffin Brigade reminder

California State Testing is coming up, May 10th through May 13th, and we’d like to get it off to a good start by providing each student with a snack before testing time.  Last year we had such a huge success with our “Muffin Brigade” that we thought we’d ask again this year.  The Muffin Brigade consists of parents willing to bake or buy two dozen standard size muffins and drop them off at Wells Middle School sometime during the day on Monday, May 9th.

If this sounds like something you’d be able to help with, please email Dana Priest at and she’ll add your name to the list. If baking is not your thing and you are available after school on Monday, May 9th to help package muffins and other snacks for the classrooms, let Dana know that as well.

The Spring District Community Conversation will be held on Monday, May 9th at the Dublin High School Library from 6:30 – 8:00. Topics will include the latest budget information and next steps for the Dublin school district. Let your voice and opinions be heard. Read more…

The State of California is now requiring that all children receive the DTAP booster.   Every student in 7th to 12th grade – including current 6th graders – must show proof of receiving the DTAP booster. Students will not be allowed to start school in the Fall without updated immunization records.  Please turn in proof of vaccination by May 31st to your student’s current school, the record must show a stamp or signature from the physician or health care provider.

Please visit for more information and list of county health clinics if your student still needs to have this immunization booster.

Garage Sale for Barton Reading

The Barton Reading program will sponsor a multi-family garage sale at Wells on May 7 from 8 am – 1 pm alongside Make a Difference Day. All proceeds will benefit the Barton Reading program, a volunteer-driven reading intervention at Wells. If you would like to donate items to sell, please drop your priced donations at Wells between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m..

DPIE Student Art Auction

Please join DPIE on Friday, May 13th from 7 – 10 pm for a relaxing night of socializing to celebrate the creativity of Dublin students during their art preview & auction event.  DPIE will be selling all of the winning artwork from the 2011 Student Art Contest in live and silent auctions to raise much-needed funds for the Dublin Schools.  Auctioneer Juliette Goodrich will auction off 18 1st place professionally framed pieces of original student artwork. All 2nd & 3rd place pieces will be sold in a silent auction throughout the night. Wine, champagne, hors d’oeuvres and dessert will be served.

California State of Emergency

We all know that our schools continue to be threatened with a lack of funding. California Teachers Association and the Dublin Teachers Association are very concerned. We are very excited to be participating in CTA’s state-wide week of action next week along with our neighboring districts of Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Livermore. We are glad to be working together with our PFCs as well as the district in this endeavor.

We are taking three days of action as follows and need your help to make it happen at each site. Please help support Dublin schools!

  • Monday 5/9: Posters with messages supporting schools
  • Tuesday 5/10: Flash mob “grade-in” at Stoneridge Mall for teachers; students and parents can come to show support
  • Thursday 5/12: “Links to the Future” Paper chains
