Welcome Back to School!

As the new PFSO President, I want to welcome you to DHS for 2013 -14. Together with our students and the dedicated administration and staff, we will work to make this a productive and memorable year. Let me start my term with some heartfelt appreciation.

Thanks to everyone who worked in June and July in our DHS fireworks booths. It was a profitable (if crazy!) 10 days, and we couldn’t have done it without lots of help!

Thanks also to all those who volunteered to work registration as we moved into the online era; your help was critical for getting the school year started right. And last but never least, many thanks to all who made donations to the PFSO and to your class accounts.

The PFSO continues to implement a funding model that allows us to contribute directly to filling campus needs. We use a line-item budget to provide funds to every department in addition to funding special projects, and we plan to take a big role in closing budget gaps this year. In fact, we’ve already funded our first special request for the Science Department! Our ability to meet these needs is a direct result of your generosity.

We also continue to work closely with the two other major parent groups on campus, the Athletic Boosters and the Band Boosters. We benefit together from the Bond Rewards online shopping fundraiser and encourage you to use this painless way to give back to DHS. Our groups will continue to discuss ways to meet the needs of all Dublin High students.

Looking forward to a terrific year!

Chris Bennett, PFSO President

Dublin High School 101 Presentation

If you are new to Dublin High, we want to invite you to a great opportunity to get the scoop on being a Gael!

Please come join us for Dublin High 101 before our regular PFSO meeting on Monday, September 23 beginning at 6:30 in the Student Union. We’ll be sharing important information on who’s who, how the school works, and defining how parents can participate here at DHS. We would love to see you there.

Raise Your Class Gaela 80’s Prom Night!

The 6th Annual “Raise Your Class” Gaela will be held on Friday, November 1st at the Shannon Center at 6:30 p.m. Come join us for an adult evening that will include appetizers, buffet dinner, no-host bar, as well as dancing. There will also be silent, live, and dessert auctions, fun games and lots of great raffle items! The theme is 80’s Prom Night, so pull out your best/worst 80’s fashions!!

This event is crucial to PFSO as it provides much of the monetary support needed to fund our programs and help all the departments at Dublin High. A portion of the proceeds also benefits all four classes at Dublin High to help fund their safe and sober Grad nights. Tickets are on sale now for $60 per person. Tables of eight can be purchased for the discounted price of $55 each through Oct. 1 and we are selling VIP Tables of eight for $700 (including wine, dessert, gift bags and first in line at buffet).

Help Wanted

The organizers of the “RAISE YOUR CLASS” fundraiser are hoping the parent community at DHS will get involved in our fundraising efforts.

It is more important than ever that this PFSO-sponsored event is successful.

If you have connections to restaurants, services, golf courses, sports memorabilia, if you have season tickets to a sporting event and can donate a pair for one game or if your family simply wants to purchase an item to be used in our auctions…we want to hear from you!

You can also sponsor our event with a monetary contribution in exchange for advertising. Advertise in our program and also receive a plug in our newsletter that goes out to over 1700 email addresses! Sponsor a full-page ad for $350, ½ page for $250 or ¼ page for $200.

We are also looking for “Friends with Class”. With a $25 donation to our event, your family will be mentioned in our event program.

If you can help in any of the above mentioned ways, please email DHSfundraising@yahoo.com or contact Michelle McDonald at macsmith413@yahoo.com.

Remember these donations are tax deductible.
