This course is designed to give the student a practical understanding of the law and legal system in the United States. The course includes a study of the roles of lawyers, police officers, and courts in our legal system. Students will learn about their rights guaranteed by the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments. Class activities such as mock trials and other simulated legal procedures, together with outside speakers, help students understand the United States legal system.
