Have Your Signed Up for the Parent Portal Yet?

Remember that the way you sign up is by taking the filled out application plus a copy of your photo identification to one of the schools.  At which point you will be emailed your login information within a couple weeks.  If you don’t have the application, please visit http://dusd.schoolwires.net/dusd/cwp/view.asp?A=3&Q=283314  to download it.

Grades will not be available until November 2.  Initially, only grades for secondary students (6-12 grades) will be displayed. Elementary students (K-5 grades) will be displayed at a later time to be announced.  Also, please do not contact teachers if you do not see assignments and scores for your students. Many teachers will not be prepared to display assignments and scores in the beginning. As teachers become more proficient using the student system, they will communicate to parents when the information will be posted. Your patience will be greatly appreciated in this matter!

Winter Sport Parent Meeting

There will be a meeting for parents whose students wish to participate in basketball, soccer, and wrestling on Tuesday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the gym.

Please remember that tryouts begin on Monday, November 8.  All paperwork must be turned in to Student Activities prior to tryouts including the physical form that needs to be signed off by a physician.  If you do not have a physician, there will be a Sports Physical Night on Wednesday, November 3rd.  For details please refer to the flier that was previously emailed out.

Signups Going on now for ASVAB aptitude test

The ASVAB, the most widely used multiple aptitude test battery in the world, assesses a student’s ability to learn new skills and is a predictor of success in training and education programs.

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program offers more than just a test.  It includes an interest-inventory and other activities and resources designed to help students explore the world of work and gain confidence in making career decisions.

Students will receive their results four weeks later and will receive a variety of information including a career-exploration guide, a comprehensive guide to military careers, a course-work planner and a series of activities students can use with their results.

The ASVAB is available for 10-12 grade students.  To signup, your student needs to see Mr. Sodhi in the counseling office.

The test will take place on Wednesday 11/17 from 8:30 a.m.-noon

Principal’s Coffee

Please join DHS Principal Carol Shimizu on the second Friday of every month from 10:30-11:30a.m. to discuss your concerns.   Please come into the Student Activities Building for instruction.  The first coffee will take place on Friday, 11/12
