Students examine major turning points in the shaping of the modern world.  First semester is spent looking at the expansion of the West (Europe) and the growing interdependence of people and cultures throughout the world.  Second semsester moves into the 20th Century.  Current events, class activities, projects and a term research paper are used to promote class discussions and critical thinking skills.  Major areas to be studied  are Rising Tide of Revolutions, Industrialization and Its Impact, Western Imperialism, World War II, Civilizations in Crisis (1882-1945) and the Contemporary World (1945 to present).
