This course, which is a graduation requirement, affords an understanding of the American political system with particular emphasis on the importance of participation in a democracy.  Critical political science concepts are explored along with the sociopolitical patterns evident in American society today.  The framework of state government is also examined with an in-depth look at California government.  Critical thinking skills are promoted through discussions, activities, projects, lectures, and simulations.
