Dublin High School Advanced Placement (AP) Results for 2010

The following information was provided by the Dublin High School Counseling department for the 2009-10 school year.

In 2009-10 54 Dublin High School students earned AP Scholar Awards at different levels.  The AP program at Dublin High School continues to grow – there are now 22 Advanced Placement (AP), Advanced and Honors courses offered at Dublin High School.  433 AP exams were administered in 2009-10 and that number is expected to rise to 632 AP exams administered during the 2010-11 school year.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. About 18 percent of the more than 1.8 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.

The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP Exams.

During the 2009-2010 academic year, 54 students at Dublin High School earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams taken through May of 2010. The grade level of the student(s) listed next to each type of honor earned indicates the grade level that they were in when they earned their designated AP award.

  • One student qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average score of 4 or higher on a five-point scale on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
  • 15 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
  • 12 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
  • 26 students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three of more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher.

Of the 2009-2010 academic year award recipients at Dublin High School, 21 students were sophomores or juniors. These students have at least one more year in which to complete college-level work and possibly earn a higher-level AP Scholar Award.

For the 2010-2011 academic year, Dublin High School will administer 632 Advanced Placement exams during the testing window in May. This is an increase from 433 exams administered in 2009-2010. Dublin High School’s number of students participating in AP, Honors and Advanced courses is increasing each year, and we also serve as a test site for home-schooled students and students whose schools may not administer specific AP exams at their sites.

OneDublin.org congratulates these talented students for their outstanding achievement and taking on the challenge of Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
