Dougherty Valley, Monte Vista, Foothill, and Dublin High School Jazz for a Cure

Dublin High School Jazz Band

Jazz bands from four Tri-Valley high schools (Dougherty Valley, Monte Vista, Foothill and Dublin) teamed up Friday night to raise money for the American Cancer Society and the ALS Association.  The first annual event, hosted by Dublin High School and held in the Dublin Senior Center ballroom, was a toe-tapping hit for all in attendance.  Missed the event?  You can view highlights from each band’s performance, including a few words from each jazz band music director, below courtesy of the OneDublin.org YouTube channel

Dublin High School Student Volunteers

Parents, students and members of the community cheered on each jazz band while enjoying desserts served by Dublin High School music program students.  All proceeds from the door and tips to student waiters were donated to the American Cancer Society and the ALS Association – over $2,000 was raised at the event.

Mark your calendar for May 20, 2011 – 7PM at the Shannon Community Center when Jazzin’ for a Cure will be returning for another music-filled evening.  Dublin High School’s $120M renewal project will be crowned by a 500-seat Performing Arts Center and will be the new home for Dublin High School’s music and drama programs.
